After impressing us with a visually brilliant teaser, production house Yash Raj Films have now come up with the first trailer of WAR. Starring Hrithik Roshan, Tiger Shroff and Vaani Kapoor in the lead, WAR is directed by Siddharth Anand, who had helmed Bang Bang, which also had Hrithik in the lead. The trailer also revealed the plot of WAR. Hrithik Roshan plays Kabir, an Indian secret agent gone rogue, while Tiger Shroff plays Khalid, who has been Kabir's protege but now sent to stop, and even kill, him. War Trailer: Hrithik Roshan-Tiger Shroff’s Face-Off In This High-Octane Action Drama Is Impressive.

WAR trailer has some gorgeously shot sequences that are filmed in many exotic foreign locales. The makers have made good use of both Hrithik and Tiger's action charisma to bring out some impressively choreographed fight scenes, though there is not a single shot of them dancing together. That's a missed opportunity for their fans, as both are excellent dancers.

Check out the Trailer of WAR below:

While we are impressed with the lavish scale on which the action has been shot, we would have been happier if most of them were original in concept. Just like the plot of the film. In this feature, we look at the seven films that the WAR trailer reminded us of! Starting off with the most obvious:

Dhoom 2

Well, can anyone blame us for thinking Kabir and Mr A, both played by Hrithik, are made from the same mould? Both look stylish while performing rogue actions, have the other protagonists chase after them and perform similar stunts. Like Dhoom 2 has the below stunt as Mr A's introductory scene where he jumps from a plane to a train to perform a heist.

In the first scene of the WAR trailer, Kabir goes two steps ahead and jumps from a plane to another plane riding below.

Some netizens are already comparing it to the opening sequence of The Dark Knight Rises too!

Aiyaary

Last year, we had Sidharth Malhotra play a special Army officer gone rogue to expose the corruption in the Ministry in Neeraj Pandey's Aiyaary. Meanwhile, Manoj Bajpayee who plays his mentor, is assigned to catch and kill his former protege.

In WAR, the role is reversed to have the protege catch up with the mentor. Which actually tells us that WAR could be a ripoff of the below Hollywood movie.

The November Man

In 2014, Pierce Brosnan starred in an action thriller, The November Man, where he played a former CIA agent gone rogue during a mission. His protege, played by Luke Bracey, is sent to capture him, as the hero dodges the man, whom he taught perfectly, to work out his own mission. Sounds familiar? That's exactly the pitch that WAR is going for. Even whatever little glimpses of Vaani Kapoor we saw in the trailer, when she is not dancing or preening, feel similar to the character that Olga Kurylenko played in The November Man.

The November Man was not a huge hit and it also got very average reviews from the critics. But then even Knight and Day wasn't well-received by the critics, but that didn't stop Siddharth Anand from remaking the film as Bang Bang!

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation

The WAR trailer showed scenes of an epic bike chase scene between Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff's characters.

Now, bike chases have been a staple from nearly every action film, from Mission: Impossible franchise to even Dhoom series. But right from the locales to the stunts, the bike scene in WAR feels suspiciously similar to the one Tom Cruise does in Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation.

Spider-Man: Homecoming

One of the best scenes of the WAR trailer happens to be both Hrithik and Tiger precariously hanging outside a plane, while the propeller behind is on fire.

Now we could have gone and said that the whole scene reminded us of the climactic action scene in Mission: Impossible - Fallout. But there is something about the scene in WAR that harked us back to the below climactic fight between Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and the Vulture (Michael Keaton) in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

The Fate of the Furious

An agent goes rogue. His former associate is tasked to catch him and they fight across various locales. Yes, comparisons with the Fast & Furious franchise was always coming, since both WAR and the Vin Diesel franchise are about impossibly awesome stunts. But there is one particular sequence in WAR that feels a bit too inspired from the last F&F main canon film.

Doesn't it remind us of the climax of The Fate of the Furious, that also has cars cruising along smoothly on the ice plateaus of Siberia?

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice

Okay, now every comicbook movie fan would have caught the below scene, right? When Hrithik stops Tiger's punch...

...and no one will blame you if you are reminded of this iconic scene from Batman V Superman, that also seems to be shot in similar decrepit location.

Well, this sadly brings notice to the fact that while our action scenes are now matching international standards, our creativity is very much aligning back to 'cut-copy-paste'. WAR is all set to release on October 2.
