Vikram Batra Biopic: The Reason Why Sidharth Malhotra's Film is Called 'Time to Relive – Yeh Dil Mangey More' DECODED
So are you excited about Sidharth Malhotra playing Vikram Batra in the movie?
In a surprise announcement, Karan Johar tweeted that his production house, Dharma Production, is backing the Kargil Hero Vikram Batra biopic. Sidharth Malhotra is playing the main lead, returning to Karan Johar camp after the 2016 movie Baar Baar Dekho. If you remember, Sidharth Malhotra had made his debut with Student of the Year (along with Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt) in 2012 that was directed by Karan Johar himself.
Talking more about the biopic, it is supposedly titled 'Time to Relive – Yeh Dil Mangey More' and has Sidharth Malhotra in a double role. He will be playing both Captain Batra and his brother. Karan Johar had tweeted, "Time to relive-Yeh Dil Mangey More. @DharmaMovies & Shabbir Boxwala collaborate to present the true story of bravery & patriotism-the chronicles of Kargil war hero Vikram Batra. @S1dharthM in the lead as Sher Shah Vikram Batra; Vishnu Varadhan to direct; Written By Sandeep Shrivastava."
Two things that catch out eyes are Sher Shah and the title. To understand the meaning of these references, you need to know more about the braveheart on whom the movie is being made.
Captain Vikram Batra was one of the brave soldiers who lay down his life during the 1999 Kargil War with Pakistan. He was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest and most prestigious award for valour. He was referred to as 'Sher Shah' by the Pakistani soldiers when the Indian army intercepted their wireless messages.
As for 'Yeh Dil Mangey More', it used to be the tagline of Pepsi, which was his favourite slogan too, so much that Batra used it as a success signal during the Kargil mission. Abhishek Bachchan had earlier played the martyred Captain in JP Dutta's LOC Kargil, where he was shown using the phrase, much to the amusement of his seniors.
