First of all, what sense does it make to actually go on and comment on an actor's physical appearance? Doesn't he/ she being an "actor" give you the opportunity to critically analyze their performance and not the right to give your opinion on their skin colour or body weight? Now, we have Fanney Khan coming up featuring debutante actress Pihu Sand who plays an "obese teenager" battling issues that come with it.

Ahead of the release of the film, a few actresses who have been fat-shamed have lashed out at people who actually go ahead and do so. Vidya Balan and Bhumi Pednekar's stance on body-shaming has always been very strong and this time too, the actresses have made a sensible point in calling out such "trollers".

A website quoted Vidya Balan saying, "Wherever you go, I think people are very body-obsessed today. ‘Moti’ is not an expletive for me. But I don’t like it when people comment on my body. Because if I talk about your brain… Brains don’t sell, that’s why we don’t talk about it. We have no right to comment on anyone’s appearance. This has happened many times with me. When they see me happy, they are confused. As women, when you are successful, this is a way to drag you down. And I don’t give anyone that power."

Not only in our country but you will find people obsessed with a thin waist and a fair skin colour everywhere. Vidya makes a legit point here where she maintains that she doesn't like people commenting on her body. Who has actually given these people the right to talk about anyone's physical appearances, in the first place? Secondly, whether it is for a film or not, if a person is comfortable in their own skin, I don't think anybody else should bother to make known their judgement about the other person.

Bhumi, who put on excessive weight for her debut film, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, had earlier said, "I think all the criticism came right after my first film. I just stood there but made sure none of the negativity stays back. The fact that I played the role clearly states how I feel about body shaming”.

Recently, it was actor Salman Khan who, on a show, body-shamed a participant by commenting on her weight. Well, that's exactly the kinda thinking that we don't need! It would only be sensible and fair enough of the audience to actually judge actors on the basis of their acting prowess.

Fanney Khan, starring Anil Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Pihu Sand, is slated to release on August 3.
