If you are familiar with Rajkummar Rao's filmography, you know that actor is not unfamiliar when it comes to sex-tapes. The idea was a prominent feature in a couple of his early movies like Love Sex Aur Dhokha (2010) and Ragini MMS (2011). However, going by the trailer of Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, his new film itself seems inspired by a Hollywood movie that came out in 2014 but didn't find a release in India!

All You Need to Know About Jason Segel and Cameron Diaz's 'Sex Tape'
Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel played the main leads in the raunchy rom-com Sex Tape, which was directed by Jake Kasdan, known best for making the 2017 film Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and its 2019 sequel, Jumanji: The Next Level. The movie also starred Rob Corddry, Ellie Kemper, Randall Park, Kumail Nanjiani, Jack Black and Rob Lowe. Apart from playing one of the main leads, Jason Segel had also co-written the screenplay for Sex Tape.
Sex Tape has Diaz and Segel play a married couple who is facing a seven-year itch and decides to spice up their sex lives by making a sex tape. However, their intimate video gets leaked, and the couple makes frantic efforts to repair the situation before it gets out of control. In the process, a family friend's son starts blackmailing them for money after he gets his hands on the video.
Sounds familiar?
While both movies have similar plotlines, since Sex Tape is set in the digital age, the intimate video gets leaked online instead of any CD being stolen by anyone. Also, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video centres around a newly married couple, while Sex Tape leads around a couple who has been married for years and has their own kids. ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ Trailer: Did You Spot Shehnaaz Gill in Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri’s Movie? Why Did Sex Tape Not Release in India?
Since the movie revolves around a sex tape, it featured sex scenes and nudity, albeit played for laughs. However, that still didn't go down well with our Indian Censor Board, who refused to certify the movie owing to its raunchy content. Sony Pictures was trying to release Sex Tape in India. As per a report in Mid-Day, a source close to the Board gave a quote to them saying, "Owing to excess vulgarity in the film, we have decided to not certify the film." Strangely, we aren't surprised!
