Vicky Kaushal's Uri has been one of the most successful films of the year. The film released ahead of Republic Day 2019 and emerged as a huge money-spinner. Uri: The Surgical Strike, as the name suggests revolved around September 18, 2016, attacks that took place on the army headquarters in Uri, Kashmir, near the LoC. Four militants, along with 17 army personnel, were killed in the six-hour gun battle, following were killed in the six-hour gun battle, following which, on which, on September 29, India retaliated with a surgical strike. According to a Mumbai Mirror report, the film will be showcased for free across 500 theatres in the state on Kargil Vijay Diwas as an initiative taken by the government to inspire youngsters. There's no doubt that Uri's impact has been high and if you are to should the film's popular phrase "How's the Josh?", even the youngest of a lot may respond with "High Sir".
The film's director, Aditya Dhar is naturally thrilled with this news. Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, he said, "The greatest validation for any filmmaker is to know that he has inspired youngsters to think about the valour and sacrifice it's a wonderful initiative by our Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and I’m glad people will get to see the film for free this time."
Produced by Ronnie Screwvala, the film managed had become the highest grosser of the year until Shahid Kapoor's Kabir Singh recently dethroned it to take the top position. The Vicky Kaushal starrer collected about 243 crores at the India box office. After the success of Uri, Vicky Kaushal has now become the go-to actor for patriotic roles. The actor will be next seen in the Udham Singh biopic which s being helmed by Shoojit Sircar, where Vicky will essay the role of the revolutionary. The actor has also been signed on for the Sam Manekshaw biopic where will play the role of the Field Marshal.
