Veere Di Wedding Trailer: Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania Make Quite a Ballsy Gang in This 'Not a Chick Flick'
Veere Di Wedding releases on June 1.
Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sonam Kapoor mutually admire each other for their sense of fashion and performances. Kareena had earlier worked with Sonam's father in Bewafaa and her cousin, Arjun Kapoor in Ki & Ka. For the first time, these two actresses are coming for, what they don't want to call a 'chick flick', Veere Di Wedding. The movie also stars Sonam's good friend Swara Bhasker and newcomer Shikha Talsania, daughter of actor Tiku Talsania. Rhea Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor and Nikhil Dwivedi, Veere Di Wedding is directed by Shashanka Ghosh of Khoobsurat and Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II fame.
The trailer of Veere Di Wedding, and as expected, it is full of colour and frolic, with some really fun camaraderie among the lead stars. It is great to see Kareena back on screen after such a long gap of two years (she was last seen as a doctor in Udta Punjab before she settled for motherhood and gave internet their fave baby in Taimur). Kareena also shares some sparkly chemistry with Sonam.
All the four girls have different stories to say in the movie. Swara plays a divorcee, while Shikha plays a girl who had eloped and got married to her love. Sonam, meanwhile, is single while Kareena is a woman who is commitment-phobic. And still, they stick with each other as friends. We were quite surprised by the usage of some abusive words in the trailer, and wonder how family audiences will accept them. Or rather, the Censor Board.
Veere Di Wedding also stars the talented Sumeet Vyas.
The lead actresses in the movie made headlines recently when they took a strong stand on social media in the recent Kathua and Unnao rape cases. They posted pictures of themselves holding placards that read, "I am Hindustan. I am Ashamed. #Justiceforourchild 8-year-old gang-raped. Murdered. In ‘Devi’- sthaan Temple. #Kathua." While their fans appreciate their stand on the matter, Hindutva trolls abused them on social media and asked for a boycott of their movie. It will have to be seen if these trolls will really follow up their threats of ditching the movie, when it comes out on June 1.
