Even in 2018, the issue of women empowerment struggles to find the right spot. Several times, Bollywood artists have spoken up on the issue and yet the discussion continues to grow without a concrete solution to it. Recently, during an interview with Anupama Chopra, Varun Dhawan revealed bizarre norm of the industry that might make you think about the kind of the society we still live in. He shared a terrible experience while promoting his film 'October' with actress Banita Sandhu.

In the interview, he said that Banita was blatantly denied for being the part of the promotions on a reality show. The reason was simply that she was a female and that she was not known to the fans as much as him. Varun, who found this totally bizarre, denied to be the part of the show saying that she was the protagonist of the film too and that she deserved to be the part of the show as well.

This incident shared by the Sui Dhaaga actor is quite shocking with so much of being said and done for women empowerment. On one side, the films are going all the way out to throw light on women empowerment, the dark of the industry is quite a revelation.
