2019 has kicked off on a fantastic note courtesy Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike. Directed by Aditya, the film is making big moolah at the Indian box office since its release on January 18. Though the film wasn't a solo release and neither a holiday release, Uri still stormed the ticket windows and got cash registers ringing. After raking in over Rs 35 crore in the first three days itself, the military drama which has already been declared a hit is now eyeing to enter the Rs 100 crore club at the domestic BO. Uri - The Surgical Strike Box Office Collection Day 6: Vicky Kaushal's Film Holds Up Well on Wednesday, Rakes in Over Rs 63 Crore.

On day 7, Thursday, Uri's golden run at the box office continued as it collected around Rs 7 crore, bringing its total collection to a little over Rs 70 crore as per BollywoodHungama. In fact, trade analyst Taran Adarsh also took to Twitter and wrote, "#UriTheSurgicalStrike is firing on all cylinders at the BO... Did not enjoy the perks of a holiday release, yet put up a fantastic total in Week 1... Trended better than #SKTKS, #Raazi, #Stree and #BadhaaiHo in Week 1... Data follows... #Uri #HowsTheJosh."

Further, a report in trade portal BoxOfficeIndia.com states, "Uri - The Surgical Strike had an excellent first week of 70 crore nett approx and had superb collections on the weekdays and even Thursday was not much lower than the first day. The film is a potential BLOCKBUSTER and it could be that the Friday collections of the film will confirm this. A January BLOCKBUSTER is very rare and if it does come it is normally in the last week of January and the first week of January." Uri Movie Review: Vicky Kaushal's Josh-ila Performance is One Big Reason To Watch This Fallacious War Drama.

If Uri continues to keep drawing the crowd to the cinema halls then by Sunday the film should easily surpass the Rs 100 crore mark at the Indian box office. But three films are releasing today, January 18, and that could slightly affect the collections of Vicky starrer. Emraan Hashmi's Why Cheat India has arrived in the theatres today long with Arshad Warsi's Fraud Saiyaan and Govinda's Rangeela Raja. So will Uri face stiff competition from any of these film? Well, it certainly doesn't seem like but let's wait and watch!
