Uri's record-breaking run at the box office continues!
The inevitable has finally happened. Vicky Kaushal starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike has entered the coveted Rs 200 crore club that too within a month of its release. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film arrived in theatres on January 11 and since then hasn't stopped getting cash registers ringing at the India box office. Co-starring Yami Gautam, Paresh Rawal, and Mohit Raina, Uri has also broken the fourth-week record of films like Dangal, Sanju, PK, Sultan, Padmaavat and Bajrangi Bhaijaan by faring exceptionally well in the fourth week at the ticket windows. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to microblogging site Twitter a while back and announced the good news. He wrote, "#UriTheSurgicalStrike hits double century... Has ample stamina and showcasing [at plexes] to cross ₹ 225 cr... [Week 4] Fri 3.44 cr, Sat 6.62 cr, Sun 8.88 cr, Mon 2.86 cr, Tue 2.63 cr, Wed 2.40 cr, Thu 2.19 cr. Total: ₹ 200.07 cr. India biz. #Uri #HowsTheJosh."
He further tweeted, "#UriTheSurgicalStrike is SENSATIONAL... Emerges highest grossing film in *Week 4* [₹ 29.02 cr], after #Baahubali2 [#Hindi; ₹ 29.40 cr]... #Uri *Week 4* is higher than *Week 4* of #Dangal, #Sanju, #PK, #TZH, #BajrangiBhaijaan, #Padmaavat, #Sultan... Incredible indeed."
Though Vicky starrer didn't wow the critics, the film certainly has impressed the audience big time. So much so that Uri is also inching towards Rs 300 crore club at the worldwide box office which is remarkable as its a medium budget film. Since there is no big release this week, the military drama will definitely continue its golden run at the cinema halls.
