Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike has taken over the box office and how! The film has been minting big money non-stop at the ticket windows since its release on January 11. After entering the Rs 100 crore club and being declared the first blockbuster of 2019, Uri is now heading towards the Rs 150 crore mark at a lightning speed. In fact, it should easily achieve the milestone by this weekend itself. Despite being a medium budget project, the military drama has turned out to be one of the biggest money-making films in recent times. Uri: The Surgical Strike Box Office Collection Day 11: The Dream Run Continues for Vicky Kaushal's Military Drama, Mints Rs 115.87 Crore.
Just a while back, Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to microblogging site Twitter and revealed the updated figures. He wrote, "#UriTheSurgicalStrike is winning hearts and wooing BO with josh... This one’s an audience-favourite and also BO-favourite... [Week 2] Fri 7.70 cr, Sat 13.35 cr, Sun 17.17 cr, Mon 6.82 cr, Tue 6.30 cr. Total: ₹ 122.59 cr. India biz... #Uri #HowsTheJosh."
Further, a report in BoxOfficeIndia.com states, "The film has crossed 45 crore nett in Mumbai which is an insane number for a patriotic film which tends to outperform in the North. The business in Delhi / UP is around 24 crore nett which is also very good but no comparison to Mumbai. The 200 crore nett mark is not out of the question and it will be Friday that will be the test to see if it remains in the race for 200 crore nett or not."
With Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Thackeray arriving in theatres this week, things will get tough for Uri at the box office. But the way Vicky starrer has fared so far, Uri seems unstoppable at the moment.
