After veteran actress Daisy Irani's shocking revelation that she was violated at the age of six, came another shocker when another veteran actress accused a Mumbai-based businessman of raping her. The man was also accused of fraud in a Rs 15.5 crore case. Mumbai Police jumped into action and arrested the accused, who has been sent for judicial custody till he is produced before the Mumbai's Esplanade Court on March 28.
However, giving a twist to the case, the defense counsel of the accused businessman labelled the case as 'false' and that the accused has been married to the victim, who has been one of the top heroines in the '70s. This defence rules out the imposition of Section 376.
ANI quoted the lawyer saying, “The case filed against him is false. Defense presented before Court that my client & the actress are husband & wife so there's no question of Section 376. If the plaintiff is influential anything can happen in the case.”
Interestingly, the actress had earlier filed a complaint against the same man of stalking and intimidation. The man was arrested but in January 2018, he got bail in the case.
Coming back to the recent case filed against him by the 68-year old actress, PTI quoted DCP Crime Nisar Tamboli, “The complaint was filed on Thursday night at Juhu Police Station. The accused has been arrested and produced in local court. The matter has been handed over to the Crime Branch. The investigation is on.”
