Mumbai, May 21: Film producer, author and writer Twinkle Khanna has relented from her stand to auction the 'naval uniform' worn by her husband and Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar in the movie 'Rustom'. According to a report of CNN News18, the description of the item which was put for auction on April 26 by Kumar has been changed. Now instead of the word 'uniform', the description mentions it as a ‘costume’. It also clarified that the medals which the actor wore along the uniform have also been removed from auctioning.

The controversy erupted when Kumar put his naval costume which he wore in the movie ‘Rustom’ for auction. The superstar announced his decision through a tweet on April 26.

His wife Twinkle Khanna also promoted the auction through her tweet. The couple clarified that the money raised from auctioning the costume would be used for charity purpose. The decision of the couple drew flak from defence personnel. Responding to Khanna’s tweet senior army officer Lt. Col Sandeep Ahlawat expressed his anger against auctioning of the uniform.

The legal notice was also sent to the Bollywood couple by 21 individuals including 11 serving officers for auctioning of the naval uniform. The notice was also sent to auction house SaltScout, which has put out the naval officer uniform for online bidding.
