Sohum Shah may not be as mainstream or prolific as some of his Bollywood peers, but the actor-producer's body of work is impressive. Sohum had made a mark in both his capacities with Anand Gandhi's acclaimed Ship of Theseus. He also gave impressive performances in films like Talvar and Simran. Now Sohum is all set to play the lead in Tumbbad, a fantasy horror film that he has produced along with Aanand L Rai's Colour Yellow Productions and Eros Entertainment.

We have the first teaser of Tumbbad revealed and it is all sort of intrigue. Tumbbad's premise is set around about a godly deity called Hastar, who has woken up from his centuries-long sleep in a temple built for him. As the protagonist, played by Shah, tell a young king, his wrath is our blessing. From the gothic-like visuals to the terrific BG score to the suspenseful nature, everything in the teaser arouses our curiosity.

Apart from Sohum, Tumbbad also stars Jyoti Malshe, Dhundhiraj Prabhakar Jogalekar, Anita Date and Deepak Damle. The film is directed by Rahi Anil Barve.

In an interview to Mumbai Mirror, Aanand L Rai talked about what made him be a part of the film. He had said, "I watched Tumbbad four months ago, before taking off for the US schedule of Zero. It was a very instinctive decision. The moment I saw the film, I wanted to be associated with it. I am excited. We are looking at an October release."

Even Sanju director Rajkumar Hirani fell in love with the film when he caught an early screening in May. He had tweeted, "I have not seen a more visually stunning film in a long time. Great camerawork, art and costumes, and Sohum Shah, you are outstanding in the film!”
