One of this year's most acclaimed Malayalam movies was Aashiq Abu's romantic drama, Mayaanadhi. Starring Tovino Thomas and Aishwarya Lekshmi, Mayaanadhi won over the critics and the box office with its passionate tale of love and deception. The movie was much in the news during its release for the intimate scenes between the lead couple but was later praised for its execution and the performances.

Now we hear that Mayaanadhi is all set to be remade in Bollywood. Popular trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the remake has been announced in the presence of the Malayalam superstar Mohanlal during the audio launch of his upcoming movie, Neerali. Aashiq Abu won't be directing the remake though, he would be producing the movie along with veteran Marathi star Sachin Pilgaonkar and Santhosh Kuruvilla. Joe Rajan will direct the remake, while the details of the star-cast are yet to be revealed.

Mayaanadhi is the love story of a criminal, who is on the run played by Tovino, and a struggling actress, played by Aishwarya, who meet years after their split. The movie had some intimate kisses between the lead pair, a concept Malayalam cinema is yet to familiarise with. It had recently won the Padmarajan award for the Best Movie.
