Mission Mangal starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Nithya Menen and Kirti Kulhari in lead roles has now been released in theatres. The film which retells the story of one of India's most daring space missions, the Mangalyaan has received decent reviews from the critics. The film's team has now released a new song, "Tota Udd" in honour of the celebration of ISRO completing 50 years. Sharing the song on his Twitter account, Akshay wrote "We have all grown up playing Tota Udd Chidiya Udd. This simple game made us look towards the sky. Here’s our version of #TotaUdd to celebrate 50yrs of @isro." ISRO was created exactly 50 years ago on Aug. 15, 1969 with Dr Vikram Sarabhai consolidating a variety of space research activities started by him at the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) at Ahmedabad since 1947. This is a big occasion and since the film mainly revolves around India's mars mission, this song is an added promotional element for it.

The film had earlier released one song, "Dil Mein Hai Mars" which had Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan and the entire team prepping up for the big task at hand while also managing their personal lives. The song was a peppy number composed by Amit Trivedi with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya. Mission Mangal has opened to positive reviews and is expected to open well at the box office considering that it is a holiday release. The film is clashing with John Abraham's Batla House which also hit the screens on August 15.
