Okay, I know the above headline makes no damn sense on the first read. After all, if a movie is on the path to blockbuster success, you can expect the lead star's future movies to be put on a pedestal. Baaghi 2 has done the unimaginable when it made more than Rs 70 crore in just three days. This is a feat many don't expect from a star who is just five movies old. But then Tiger Shroff has already built up a strong fan base thanks to his martial arts skills and dancing prowess. His sincerity and his respectful nature also has won him a lot of admirers in the industry. So both the fans and Bollywood have come together to support his latest movie, Baaghi 2.
From the first trailer itself, we know that Baaghi 2, directed by choreographer Ahmed Khan, is going to have a strong opening weekend. It is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala who knows how to market the movies well, enjoying a really good success rate. Baaghi 2 is also tailored to suit Tiger Shroff's strengths. If you have seen the movie in a jam-packed theatre like I did, you would know that it was like watching a Salman Khan movie like Kick and Tiger Zinda Hai in a theatre. Every dialogue, every kick and every jump are cheered by the crowds who are only there to see Tiger defy every law of gravity to kick villains' butts. And Baaghi 2 give him a larger and more polished arena to do so.
Now as his fans are rejoicing the success of the movie, which in all probability, is going to be Tiger Shroff's first Rs 100 crore success, it also leaves with some really implorable implications. And that brings us to the purpose of the headline of the story - we are really worried about how two of his upcoming movies will be seen in view of how Baaghi 2 is made and how it was received by the audience. Let's talk about Student of the Year 2 first...
Student of the Year 2
Karan Johar makes his 2012 movie Student of the Year 2 into a franchise, though it would be Punit Malhotra who would be directing the sequel. Tiger Shroff is playing the main lead, and the female leads are yet to be officially announced.
Why we are worried: Fans are in love with Tiger Shroff's action skills. He has miles to go in improving his facial emotions, but the masses really don't care for that when he takes a huge leap to take down a chopper. Student of the Year 2 is more romantic in nature, and therefore there are very less chances for Tiger to break as much bones as he does in Baaghi movies. He will dance for sure, but knowing how Munna Michael flunked at the box office, we are looking at this movie with trepidation.
Rambo remake
In what was a surprising announcement during Cannes last year, it was revealed that director Siddharth Anand is remaking the iconic Hollywood movie Rambo (or rather First Blood) with Tiger Shroff in the lead. Even the original star Sylvester Stallone was surprised with this, though he later revealed that he has given blessings to the remake.
Why we are worried: A Rambo remake with Tiger Shroff makes a lot of sense and was a wonderful box office prospect. That is, until Baaghi 2 came out! The last 20 minutes of the movie has Tiger Shroff turns a shirtless one-man army in a jungle to flush out all the villain's henchmen, mowing down choppers and destroying bases. Exactly what Rambo remake was supposed to do. So what will Siddharth Anand do different in his version.
That said, we are actually quite confident that these two movies will get a good opening weekend. Also we have really high hopes that Tiger Shroff's yet-untitled movie with idol Hrithik Roshan is going to be a massive blockbuster and so does Baaghi 3 that has been announced as well. Fingers crossed that Tiger will take his fight to the moon in Baaghi 3 so that he doesn't have to break any laws of gravity here.
Wait, what? He has done that in A Flying Jatt? Oh well...
