The first trailer of the upcoming YRF, Thugs of Hindostan dropped today. The movie based on the novel, Confessions of Thug, stars Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan in lead roles. Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh are also there but what is the point. At least that is the picture that the trailer draws. Both the ladies get zero dialogues in the trailer and that is something we all should be disappointed in.
While Fatima gets to show off her skills in action, Katrina only gets to shake her belly in a sultry, seductive way. It is not if the trailer was fast-paced and compact footage. Thugs of Hindostan trailer is 3 minutes 38 seconds long, which is quite lengthy for a trailer in today's time. With so much time at hand, the makers could not spare one second to let a lady talk.
The only reason that makes sense for the lack of dialogues is if Katrina and Fatima are playing the mute character. And I can only hope, right now, that is the case. Thugs of Hindostan is NOT Anywhere Close to Pirates of the Caribbean, Clarifies Aamir Khan.
I am not the only one so enraged by the fact that Katrina and Fatima have dialogues in the trailer. I was able to find quite a lot of people on the internet who just could digest the fact.
Mayybe @fattysanashaikh's character can't speak in the film. And mayyybe we'll be surprised with Katrina speaking sans-accent (or maybe they'll give her a semi-British origin). Apart form these, I don't see a reason why the women had no dialogues in the #ThugsOfHindostanTrailer.

1. Women have no dialogues. 2. Only swaying hips, showing midriff.
And Bollywood wants *us* to be progressive 😡🤦♂️.#ThugsOfHindostanTrailer #BechdelTest #Fail.https://t.co/9FKHkvWFkl

No dialogues for the women. Used them as props. No wonder they needed young women but cast leading men who are in their mid-50s and 70s.
And this is the state of the most awaited film of the year. Things appear to be changing but they are stillthe same.#ThugsOfHindostanTrailer

Once again, women in Indian cinema get the shorter end of the stick. Women have been rendered the voiceless for ages now, let them speak in 2018, at least?
