Every big film needs a big villain, and as they say, an action movie is as good as its villain. You don't need to look beyond Sholay, Mr India, The Dark Knight and The Avengers series for that. For Thugs of Hindostan, arguably Bollywood's biggest film of the year, the movie seeks beyond boundaries and into the history to find a British officer in the pirate drama, starring Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh in the lead. He is Robert Clive, the commander of the British Army. Thugs of Hindostan New Motion Poster: Fatima Sana Shaikh Looks Menacing as Zafira - Watch Video.
We have seen Yash Raj Films, who is producing Thugs of Hindostan, has been revealing the main characters in the film. The first to come out was Amitabh Bachchan's Khudabaksh who is the leader of the thugs. Then, we had Fatima Sana Shaikh as Zafira, the dangerous archer. Now we have John Clive, who is played by Lloyd Owen, a British theatre artiste who has worked in TV series and films. Check out the video below -
Interestingly John Clive is perhaps based on Robert Clive the real-life Commander-in-Chief of British India, who governed the region between 1757–1760. He was responsible for expanding the hold of the British empire in the country and many historians accused him of having sociopathic tendencies in oppressing our country-men. We are curious to see how Aamir Khan and his pirates take on this British commander.
This is the third time Aamir Khan is facing a British antagonist in a film after the Oscar-nominated Lagaan and the meek Mangal Pandey. So who's next, Thugs of Hindostan?
