Thugs of Hindostan, the biggest Bollywood film of the year till now, has finally released in theatres today. With a brand like Aamir Khan attached to the film and featuring the legendary Amitabh Bachchan and the popular Katrina Kaif, it would be imperative to say that Thugs of Hindostan would not take a flying start at the box office. Ever since the film was announced by Yash Raj Films (YRF) and that it would star Aamir Khan in the lead, we were pretty much excited about this pirate saga that is directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, the man who gave Aamir Khan a blockbuster in Dhoom 3Thugs of Hindostan: Fans Are Unhappy With High Ticket Prices for Aamir Khan's Film; Call The Makers the Real 'Thugs' - Read Tweets.

With the added advantage of being released on holidays (Diwali) and that there is no major competition from other Bollywood films, trade experts were predicting a Rs 40 crore plus opening for Aamir Khan's new film. The only stiff competition Thugs of Hindostan has to face is from South in the form of Thalapathy Vijay's Sarkar, that is turning out to be a huge blockbuster both in Indian and overseas. Sarkar Box Office: Thalapathy Vijay's Film Off To a Thunderous Start. Should Aamir Khan Be Worried?

As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, Thugs of Hindostan has opened to 70% occupancy, as the film takes advantage of Aamir Khan's box office pull and the Diwali holiday. The movie has got 5000 screens in India, and additional 2000 screens worldwide so this is impressive!

However, with the bad reviews pouring in, we have to see if the film maintains momentum ahead.

The big question is will Aamir Khan manage to beat the lifetime collections of his own Dangal, currently the highest grossing Bollywood film in India, or that of Baahubali 2 with Thugs? Share your thoughts on this in the comments section below.
