Priyanka Chopra-Farhan Akhtar starrer The Sky Is Pink just hit the theatres. The Shonali Bose directed film is based on the real-life incidents of motivational speaker Aisha Chaudhary who suffered from pulmonary fibrosis. The film received rave reviews at Toronto International Film Festival 2019, critics and fans all over the globe. However, surprisingly, the first day collections of the film at the box office are extremely low. As per the reports in Box Office India, the film collected just Rs 2.50 crore nett approx. The reason is said to be Hrithik Roshan-Tiger Shroff’s War which collected Rs 7.10 crore on the same day.

Well, the makers did not leave any stone unturned to promote the film across various cities in India and also abroad. Despite such heavy promotions, strong subject, stellar star-cast, acclaimed filmmaker and inspiring story, the film has shown a poor performance at the ticket windows. On the other hand, the out-and-out masala entertainer like War is still going strong at the ticket windows. The film released ten days ago and already had its dream run and entered the 300-crore club. However, the fans are appalled and saddened to see the low first day collections of The Sky Is Pink that is still competing with War. Here’s what Twitterati has to say.

It is indeed awful to witness such a performance at the box office of a much-celebrated film. This also makes us wonder whether the audience is ready to watch such kind of films over massy entertainers! What do you think?
