Hansal Mehta directs Kareena Kapoor Khan in The Buckingham Murders,  a well-made investigative drama that was shot entirely in England. The movie features Kareena Kapoor Khan, making her debut as a producer here, who plays a grieving police detective who is assigned to solve the case of a missing child who later turns out to be dead. After its world premiere at the 67th BFI London Film Festival, The Buckingham Murders came to theatres on September 13, and the movie received good reviews. ‘The Buckingham Murders’ Movie Review: Kareena Kapoor Khan Excels in Hansal Mehta’s Riveting Investigative Thriller.

If you have seen The Buckingham Murders, you would be surprised to see that the movie has a scene of nudity. The Buckingham Murders may be about solving a murder, but there is a subplot of a forbidden romance, and that's where the nudity comes in. Warning - MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!

The Buckingham Murders has LGBTQ+ themes (which is spoilt in the disclaimer at the beginning of the movie) and has two young boys shown in love. One of the characters is Saquib, played by Kapil Redekar, who is first suspected to be the killer of the young boy and is arrested. The other is Naved, played by Rahul Sidhu, who is the local Imam's son. They have their romantic tryst in a desolate forest (where the boy's corpse is discovered), where they have drugs and make out, leading to an intimate gay kissing scene.

The film later shows them skinny-dipping in a nearby lake. The scene has them strip clothes and show their naked backsides before they jump into the water and frolic around (before they end up discovering something grisly). ‘The Buckingham Murders’ Review: Kareena Kapoor Khan Impresses Critics in Hansal Mehta’s Investigative Thriller.

Even though The Buckingham Murders received an 'Adults Only' (A) certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), we are surprised that the Indian Censor Board allowed a nude scene in a movie. Quite atypical of them, right?
