If they had stuck to the plans, then The Accidental Prime Minister would have released along with Shah Rukh Khan's Zero on December 21. Now that didn't happen and we are having the trailer for this biopic being launched on December 27. The Accidental Prime Minister is about Dr Manmohan Singh's tenure as the Prime Minister of India and has Anupam Kher step into his garb. The movie is based on the book by the same name, written by Singh's former media adviser Sanjay Baru. Anupam Kher Wishes Former PM Manmohan Singh on His Birthday With Another Glimpse From the Upcoming Biopic, The Accidental Prime Minister.

Interestingly, it is Akshay Khanna who is playing the role of Baru in the film. The Accidental Prime Minister has been directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte, and also stars Aahana Kumra and Arjun Mathur who are playing Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi in the film, while Suzanne Bernert is playing Sonia Gandhi. The Accidental Prime Minister has been accused by some of the Congress factions as a deliberate attempt to malign the party image, since the leading man has close affiliations to the BJP party. The Accidental Prime Minister: Anupam Kher Shares New Poster; Trailer To Be Out Today - See Pic Inside.

Well, these accusations will grow stronger in the days to come as the trailer highlights how Singh becomes a pawn of the Gandhi family politics, and a silent 'victim' who gets the blame for all the malpractices that happened during the regime. As for Anupam Kher, the fact he is mimicking the former PM rather than make the character his own feels very distracting. Especially, since Akshaye Khanna is going great guns as the adviser.
