As expected, the trailer of The Accidental Prime Minister created a big outrage on social media, especially among the Congress supporters. For the uninitiated, the movie is about former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's tenure leading the country and is based on the book by his former media advisor, Sanjay Baru. The trailer of the film gives us the idea that Singh has been a pawn in the politics of the Gandhi family. Considering that The Accidental Prime Minister is releasing in the first month of 2019, the same year where the general elections are being held, many in Congress have raised protest over how the film is made to malign their party image. It also didn't help that the Twitter handle of BJP used the trailer to launch a scathing attack on the Gandhis. Anupam Kher Compares Himself to Manmohan Singh, The Accidental Prime Minister Actor Trolled For Praising Himself, Check Funny Tweets and Memes.

Thanks to all the hullabaloo over the film, there have been rumours that the movie will be banned in Madhya Pradesh. Recently, Indian National Congress has won in the state elections there.

However, in a press conference, the Chief Minister of the State, Kamal Nath revealed that there is no such ban over the movie. He said, "I don't have any intent to impose a ban or any prohibition on any movie." Anupam Kher Starrer The Accidental Prime Minister Banned in Madhya Pradesh - Read Details.

However, some of the INC members are insisting that they are shown the movie beforehand, otherwise, they won't allow the release of the film. Anupam Kher, meanwhile, tweeted that he won't buckle under pressure and added that this is his career-best performance. He said, "I am not going to back off. This is my life’s best performance. Dr Manmohan Singh will agree after seeing the film that it is a 100% accurate depiction." We can be the judge of that when The Accidental Prime Minister is releasing on January 11, 2019.
