Anupam Kher's hyped film The Accidental Prime Minister has not managed to impress the critics. The movie has received a decent response from the audience. The opening day figures at the box office are out. The Accidental Prime Minister managed to rake in Rs 4.50 crore at the box office. The numbers might not be satisfactory but there is hope. The movie started seeing an upward trend starting from Friday evening. One can hope that the trend continues over the weekend as well. The movie might actually have a shot at becoming a hit. Our in-house film critic, Sreeju Sudhakaran, thought The Accidental Prime Minister was worth giving 2.5 stars out of 5. In his well-worded review, he wrote, "The Accidental Prime Minister is watchable for Akshaye Khanna and Anupam Kher's acts and some satirical digs. While the makers want us to watch the film for 'entertainment' purposes, we can't help but admit that there is a clear agenda in play. Here's where The Accidental Prime Minister loses points! Talking about the film Anupam Kher has said, " We have made this film with a lot of sincerity and we don't have any political agenda behind the release of the film. Akshaye Khanna earlier made a really good statement that this film will make people debate and not a controversy."

The Accidental Prime Minister has been directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte. It is based on the eponymous book by Sanjaya Baru. The movie has been presented by Jayantilal Gada.
