Teachers' Day 2019: Anupam Kher Recalls the day When He Made His 'Student' Deepika Padukone Cry
It's Teachers' Day and guess what, we have one of the sweetest stories to tell you about Deepika Padukone and her acting coach, the veteran actor Anupam Kher. The actor recently opened up with a news portal to recall an incident when he was teaching Deepika in his acting school.
Teachers' Day is celebrated in India on September 5 and it's special considering you get to honour the people who made a great deal of difference to your life be it academically or professionally. The day seems to be going extremely well for Deepika Padukone particularly considering her teachers have been showering her with praises for being the ideal student. While her music teacher, Dr Ashley William Joseph has posted a sweet note about being proud of her achievements, there's another teacher who had a rather interesting story to recall about Ms Padukone, in this case, her acting teacher. Anupam Kher is known to have a taught acting to quite a few of the new-age actors and guess what? Deepika Padukone too was one of them. Recently, recalling an incident about Padukone's time at his acting school, Kher spoke to Hindustan Times, he remembered a time when he tried to break her composure of being a perfectionist by her giving her an exercise in improvisation.
He said, "I remember one about Deepika. She was a very successful model before she joined my school. She was good at everything, punctual, and would do things with finesse. I had told her ‘you are here for three months, you can’t take a break’. I felt that she wanted to do everything perfectly. My point is, acting is not about perfection, it’s about the rough edges too. One day, to break her composure of being a perfectionist, I gave her an exercise in improvisation."Anupam Kher Shakes a Leg at Jonas Brothers' Concert in New York.
"I told her ‘you work as a bai (maid) in a house, there is nothing called ‘perfection’ (about her)’. She was spick and span about mannerisms, but her character wouldn’t know how to use a fork and a knife. That went on for 45 minutes… till I felt she had discovered (new things). I think she started crying!", he further added.
Considering Deepika's personality, we are not surprised that she strives hard for perfection and hence is one of the most talented actresses today. We certainly do wish, Kher had spilled the beans about some of his other interesting students too such as Varun Dhawan.
