Tanushree Dutta-Nana Patekar Row: An Old Video of Dimple Kapadia Talking About Nana Patekar's 'Dark Side' is Going Viral - Watch It Here
After the scandal broke out and people demanded why Bollywood was silent, Dimple's daughter, former actress and author Twinkle Khanna was one of the few celebs who tweeted in support of Tanushree Dutta.
Things are getting heated up in Bollywood right now, after Tanushree Dutta has cracked open an old can of worms. After returning to India recently from her stay in the US, Tanushree Dutta had given an explosive interview, where she revealed how Nana Patekar had harassed her during a film shoot in 2008. She has given many interviews since, while also accusing her Chocolate director Vivek Agnihotri of also misbehaving with her, asking her to strip for a scene that didn't involve her.
With the anti-sexual harassment campaign #MeToo taking baby steps in the country, support is pouring in for Tanushree Dutta on social media. There are a couple of eye-witnesses who collaborate with her story. Nana Patekar continues to deny any sort of thing happened and he is planning to take legal action against her.
While all this is going on, a Twitter user had put up an old video of Dimple Kapadia talking about Nana Patekar's 'dark side' in an interview. It was taken some eight years back in a talk show hosted by film critic Anupama Chopra. Dimple was promoting her film Tum Milo Toh Sahi, that also starred Nana Patekar and Rishi Kapoor.
When asked how Nana Patekar is, Dimple replied, "I think he is obnoxious." When prodded further whether it is in a good way, Dimple continued, "In a good way and a bad way. I Think as far as his talent goes, there is no match for him. He is an extremely talented man. And when I see talent like this, then I feel sau khoon maaf hai, sab kuch maaf hai. Meri jaan bhi le lo! (100 kills are forgivable, everything is forgivable. You can even take my life). Because that's the effect it (his performances) has on me."
She then cautiously added, "As a person, with me, he is very kind and a good friend. But I have also seen his terrible side, his dark side. We all have a dark side which is, like, nicely and safely, kept aside." Watch the video here -
In the past, Dimple had worked with Nana in movies like Prahaar, Angaar and Krantiveer. In fact, Prahaar was directed by Nana Patekar. They again later worked in the ensemble comedy, Welcome Back, that came out in 2015.
After the scandal broke out and people demanded why Bollywood was silent, Dimple's daughter, former actress and author Twinkle Khanna was one of the few celebs who tweeted in support of Tanushree Dutta.
We wonder how many more cans of worms will be opened in the future and how many more actors will be brought under the scanner.
