Taapsee Pannu's Dil Juunglee, Urvashi Rautela's Hate Story 4 or Richa Chadha's 3 Storeys - Which Of These Friday Releases is Your Pick This Week?

This week there are three Bollywood releases, and three major Hollywood movies competing with each other to get a major share of pie at the box office.

It's already the third month of 2018, and we only have two certified hits (one of them a real blockbuster) to talk of. There is Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat that had grossed more than Rs 250 crore at the domestic box office thanks to enough controversies it has mired in (and yeah, the star power of Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor also played a factor). And then there is Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety that has turned out to be a profitable venture. meanwhile other releases have either underperformed or turned out to be disasters.

Akshay Kumar's PadMan may have got good response from other celebs but the move broke the star's recent Rs 100 crore streak. But it at least fared better than Anushka Sharma's Pari, Sidharth Malhotra's Aiyaary and Sonakshi Sinha's Welcome To New York, the latter two being complete washouts.

This week there are three Bollywood releases, and three major Hollywood movies competing with each other to get a major share of pie at the box office. Here they are,

Dil Juunglee

Cast: Taapsee Pannu and Saqib Saleem; Director:  Aleya Sen

Dil Juunglee looks to be a youth-pleasing romcom, with Saqib and Taapsee making for a good pair. The songs are good, but the movie hasn't managed to create as much buzz as Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, that came out two weeks back.

3 Storeys

Cast:  Richa Chaddha, Pulkit Samrat, Sharman Joshi, Renuka Shahane, Masumeh Makhija, Masumeh Makhija, Aisha Ahmed, Ankit Rathi;  Director: Arjun Mukherjee

The promos did tease an interesting movie that doesn't reveal much about the premise. But anthology movies have rarely worked in Bollywood. Dus Kahaniyaan, any one?

Hate Story IV

Cast: Karan Wahi, Urvashi Rautela, Ihana Dhillon and Vivan Bhatena; Director: Vishal Pandya

One movie we are sure will lead the box office race. Some sections of the audience have a thing for the erotic thriller franchise. Any bets on thing going otherwise?

Now let's talk about the videshi maal...

A Wrinkle in Time

Cast:  Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Chris Pine, Zach Galifianakis, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Michael Peña; Director: Ava DuVernay

Can Disney compete with itself. As Black Panther is cruising smoothly at the box office, Disney comes up with a fantasy adventure with an exciting cast. Moreover it is directed by Ava DuVernay, who made the terrific  Martin Luther King Jr biopic, Selma.

Tomb Raider

Cast:  Alicia Vikander, Dominic West and Walton Goggins; Director: Roar Uthaug

Can Alicia Vikander match upto the success that Angeline Jolie has in the role of the globe-trotting adventurer? We will know this Friday, when India gets to watch the movie before the rest of the world. At least they was dialled down the sexism.

The Hurricane Heist

Cast:  Toby Kebbell and Maggie Grace; Director: Rob Cohen

A thriller, directed by the man who kick-started the Fast and the Furious franchise.

So which movie is your pick this weekend? Share your thoughts below.
