Swara Bhasker is known for her no-nonsense attitude and for frankly calling spade a spade. She is one of the very few vocal dissenters in Bollywood against all the malpractices in politics and society. And thanks to her controversial statements and stand, Swara has been the target of hatred from RW trolls on social media. If the negative attention she is getting wasn't enough, the actress has kicked a new hornet's nest with her latest quote.
During a recent media interaction in New Delhi, Swara took a dig at the ruling government with a statement that is bound to invite the wrath of her haters. She had said, "'Is desh mein Mahatma Gandhi jaise mahaan insaan ki hatya hui, us waqt bhi kuch aise log the jo celebrate kar rahe the unki hatya ko, aaj wo satta mein hain, un sabko daal dena chahiye jail mein? Nahin na? Obvioulsy nahi'"(Translation: This country has seen the murder of a great man like Mahatma Gandhi; at that time, there were people who celebrated his death. Those people are in power, so should they be put in jail? No, right? Obviously no). She would be referring to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh organisation, or RSS, who was alleged to have backed Nathuram Godse, the killer of Mahatma Gandhi (though the organisation had denied any hand in the matter). The current BJP government has the support of RSS.

Her statement is made in protest of the recent arrests of Dalit activists accused of inciting Bhima Koregaon violence and for hatching a murder plot against the Prime Minister.
