After the Pulwama terror attack and the recent air strikes carried out by the Indian Air Force, the tensions between India and Pakistan escalated further. Feared words such as 'war' were being thrown around and social media has been abuzz with all sorts of opinions. In the meantime, South African comedian and host of The Daily Show, Trevor Noah received massive backlash for his latest episode discussing India-Pakistan relations. Latest to criticise the comedian is Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker.
The actress took to Twitter to share her angst on Trevor's callous approach while covering the story. Swara tweeted saying, "@Trevornoah 1. War isn’t funny or entertaining. 2. Hindi is not gibberish. Ur stereotype of indo- pak is ignorant & racist. 3. Ur set smacks of essentialism & a patronising generalisation & is v #FirstWorld 4. Human lives were lost & at stake. SO disappointing! @ComedyCentral."Trevor Noah, Host of 'The Daily Show', Slammed on Twitter For Saying 'India-Pakistan War Will be Most Entertaining'.

In the video featuring Trevor that's going viral, at one point, Noah ends up saying if India and Pakistan do go to war, it will be one of the most entertaining ones. The Veere Di Wedding actress lambasted the comedian on exactly the same point. She further shared another tweet saying, "@Trevornoah @ComedyCentral a not racist & cruel version of this joke (IF Ur Writers was diverse)- India & Pak thankfully walking back from brink of war. Meanwhile, Bollywood looking to see how many dance numbers they can fit in2 movie version of this episode! Thanks @vedashastri."

Apart from Swara Bhasker, popular stand-up comedian Mallika Dua also tweeted about Trevor Noah's lack of sensitivity in covering this and called him 'tone deaf'. The comedian has chosen not to respond to the backlash yet.
