"Mamta and Mauji are newly married, but in their little house, they never get time to know each other. Mauji works at a sewing machine selling shop, where the owner's son often insults him. When Mamta see him doing so at his wedding, she asks Mauji to have some self-respect for himself instead of losing his dignity for a job. Encouraged by her words, Mauji quits the job and tries to start his own sewing business, much to the chagrin of his disapproving father. Things aren't easy, as they don't have a sewing machine they can call their own. However, with Mamta by his side, Mauji decides to take challenges head-on. Virat Kohli's Review of Anushka Sharma's Performance in Sui Dhaaga is What Makes Him The Best Husband!
The first half does a good job of establishing the characters of Mamta and Mauji, along with his family. It also sounds an engaging narrative around their struggles, blend with humour and emotions. Mauji and Mamta's trust to get a sewing machine is heart-warming and it also brings in the interval point.
So far so good. The lead stars are very affable, even if it takes a little convincing to see them as small-town characters. But the film manages to make them endearing."
