The war of words that started between filmmaker Shekhar Kapur and lyricist Javed Akhtar has left everyone shocked. It all started after the former shared a tweet on how he still feels like a ‘refugee’ and also how ‘embrace of intellectuals is like a bite of snake’. The veteran lyricist and screenwriter who never fears to voice his opinions strongly reacted to Kapur’s tweet and also mentioned ‘he should not be ashamed of meeting a psychiatrist’. Kapur’s ex-wife Suchitra Krishnamoorthi has reacted to this entire saga and said that she is shocked by the lyricist’s ‘personal attack’ on Shekhar Kapur. Shekhar Kapur and Suchitra Krishnamoorthi married in 1997 and in 2007 they got divorced. But this debate between Suchitra’s ex-husband and Javed Akhtar did not stop her from extending support to Kapur. She tweeted, “Totally shocked by @Javedakhtarjadu s very personal attack on @shekharkapur s tweet. Intellectualism is indeed a malaise.” Suchitra’s tweet has garnered attention and some Twitterati have even agreed to her opinion.

Shekhar Kapur’s remark came in after 49 Bollywood celebrities penned down a letter to PM Narendra Modi, requesting him to take action against mob lynching happening in India. These celebs’ statement also mentioned, ‘‘‘Jai Shri Ram’ has become a war-cry”. Kapur has not responded to all tweets of Javed Akhtar but just to one of them. Javed Akhtar tweeted, “What do you mean by still a refugee Does it mean that you feel like an outsider n not an Indian n you don’t feel that this is your motherland .If in India you are still a refugee where will you not feel like a refugee ,In Pakistan? Cut this melodrama you poor rich but lonely guy”. To this Kapur responded by tweeting, “No. It means once you are a refugee, you feel a gypsy.” Stay tuned for further updates.
