On May 10, we will witness the second entry in the franchise that not many thought could exist. Student of the Year 2, the sequel to the hit Karan Johar directorial of the same name, that came out in 2012, has been directed by Punit Malhotra this time around. It is evident from the trailer, that this one is a brand new take on the idea of SOTY while also being tangentially related to it. The new movie stars Tiger Shroff, Tara Sutaria and Ananya Pandey. Director Punit was interacting with the media when he was asked about how different his school would be from Karan's version. "Karan's school is part of Student 2, it's there for sure. That's the rich school. In addition, my poor schools are there along with it," Punit said.

The filmmaker further added, "It's taking his school further. It's taking that same thought further. Karan's school was very very glamorous. We are a little less glamorous in that sense. But it's his school as well,"

"When I started the film, we had very different locations in mind. We had put up the school in a different space, but we were like why can't we give it the feel of the first one. Let us give it some sort of recall value. Well from what we have seen so far in the trailers and the songs, Student of the Year 2 is just as glamorous as Student of the Year. But we will wait for the movie to release to dish out our final judgement. Maybe there is a surprise for us somewhere in the movie.
