Looks like Bollywood is feeling very encouraged by the positive reception to Anushka Sharma's Pari that released a couple of months back. The movie managed to show that even Bollywood can go grisly and stomach-churning with the horror genre. Now Shraddha Kapoor is going the scary route with her upcoming movie Stree, the teaser of which she revealed some time back. Rajkummar Rao also plays the lead in the movie, that is directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Raj & DK.

While the teaser doesn't show much in terms of its characters, it does manage to create a very strong horror atmosphere with the setting. It begins with a caption, 'Based on a ridiculously true phenomenon', after which we hear a gurkha shouting 'Oi Stree, kal aana...oi stree yahaan koi mard nahin' (hey woman, come tomorrow,... hey woman, there are no men here). The teaser has the camera go on a first-person mode around the alleys of a village. As the camera finally settles on a house, you see a silhouette of a spooky woman as she levitates on thin air. Man, that BG score is damn spooky!

Shraddha also revealed the first look of the movie,

While the whole setting looks damn scary, it also reminded me of an old Zee Horror Show episode called Anhonee.

The movie, also starring Pankaj Tripathi is all set to release on August 31.
