Stree belongs to the genre of horror-comedy, a genre that Bollywood has not made much inroads into. But then the movie is brought to you by the makers of the cult Go Goa Gone, Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, along with Dinesh Vijan. Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor play the leads in Stree, that also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Aparashakti Khurrana. Our in-house critic Sreeju Sudhakaran is watching the movie and here's what he has to say about the first half -

"The village of Chanderi is haunted by a female spirit called Street, who kills men in the village during the four day Pooja period. However, the younger generation thinks this of a myth and one among them is Vicky (Rajkummar Rao). Vicky, who is also a tailor, meets a mysterious girl during the Pooja who puts weird requests for him while hiding her identity. At that time, Stree has started attacking the young men of his village, while his friends think his mysterious girlfriend is Stree herself.

The first half of Stree is quite fast-paced, setting the plot immediately with the entity taking the first man in the first scene itself. Sure, the film is more funny with everyone in the cast so damn hilarious. But when it comes to scares, the movie jumps on you. There are very less distractions with even the item song seamlessly integrated into the film.

The interval comes at the point when the hero began to have doubts about his so-called girlfriend. So is Shraddha's character really the Stree? Looking forward to see how the second half turns out."
