Written by Raj & DK, Stree is inspired by the "ridiculously true phenomenon" of Nale Ba. The film revolves around a vengeful female spirit, who haunts the streets of Chanderi in Madhya Pradesh during the days of the puja, preying on men. Stree is bankrolled by Dinesh Vijan, Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru.
Latest reports suggest that Stree, that has an open ending, will have a sequel. Confirming the news, Producer Dinesh Vijan, while talking to DNA, had said, "The film’s last two shots actually set up the sequel. When you watch the movie, you will understand that we intentionally had an open ending," further adding, "Stree 2 will start off from there and explain those shots. We have written it as a franchise, so there will be a sequel. We are happy that the confidence in the content has paid off." Watch this space for further updates.
