Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, is the much-anticipated sequel to the 2018 film Stree. Directed by Amar Kaushik, this film marks the fifth installment in the Maddock Supernatural Universe. Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana also return to reprise their roles. Despite some narrative flaws, critics have praised the performances of the star-studded cast. The film’s synopsis reads: “After the events of Stree, the small town of Chanderi is being haunted by a beheaded creature, “Sarkata”, who is abducting women.” ‘Stree 2’ Movie Review: A Stellar Rajkummar Rao and a ‘Massy’ Shraddha Kapoor Are Electrifying Together in This ‘Laughs & Spooks’-Packed Sequel.

Stree 2 is jointly produced by Maddock Films and Jio Studios, featuring special cameo appearances by Tamannaah Bhatia and Varun Dhawan. Now, let’s read the reviews shared by critics for this much-awaited sequel.

Watch the Trailer of ‘Stree 2’ Movie Below:

Hindustan Times: Stree 2 is a rare sequel that delivers bang for the buck. It’s the sheer talented bunch who make Stree 2 what it is, led by an able Rajkummar Rao. Shraddha Kapoor, who gets a hoot-worthy entry sequence towards the intermission, is no doubt integral to the storyline.

The Indian Express: The thing that makes the movie stick is the sheer likeability of the characters, led by Rao and helped along by the goofiness of the other three, as well as their ability to sustain being madcap.

News18.com: The first half of the film sails by smoothly, but the second half hits choppy waters. The storyline takes a turn reminiscent of Stranger Things, with women held captive in an alternate universe accessible only through a Harry Potter-style Platform Nine and Three-Quarters gateway. At this point, the film borrows heavily from the West, diluting the originality that made the first Stree so special.

India Today: Stree 2 is funny, has some good scares, and is a step forward for the franchise. While Hollywood boasts of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), our made-in-India SCU (Stree Cinematic Universe) also has great potential.
