So Sridevi's post-mortem report is out and it is now making people ask more questions than make everyone shut up about the cause of her death. When the news of Sridevi's demise came out on Saturday evening, it was speculated that the reason for her untimely death was due to massive cardiac arrest. However, her own family members, including brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor, had mentioned she had never suffered from cardiac ailments before. "We are completely shocked. She had no history of a heart attack," Sanjay Kapoor had told Khaleej Times. But medical practitioners have claimed that you don't need to have previous ailments to have a cardiac arrest.
Then after hours of wait, the forensics department in Dubai finally carried out her post-mortem and then the details were shared with the Dubai-based news agencies, The Khaleej Times and Gulf News. And the report attributes the cause of death to accidental drowning.
Forensic report: Accidental drowning is cause of #Sridevi's death. https://t.co/vYS1il1E7T pic.twitter.com/BY2XjEG1nr

But like we said before, we can't help but ask these questions about the circumstances surrounding her death, all thanks to the above report.
What's 'Accidental Drawning'?
Is this a report given by a hospital in Dubai? What's with the bad English? How can such an official report go out with such blunders? Especially when you know all the eyes of an entire nation will be on it! And let's' not even talk about the quality of that paper!
Why the term 'accidental' was used?
Some of the Twitter users are pointing out about how the word 'accidental' was used before 'drawning', and are asking about how the forensic department can even identify it as 'accidental'.
Big question. How can any forensic report write : ACCIDENTAL ?? They can write cause of death is drowning but how can it decide that it was accidental?? https://t.co/D7FrVNKnHg

To be fair to the forensics, drowning is often considered by many forensics department as accidental, till proven otherwise. But since this happened in a bathtub and there is no mention of 'cardiac' arrest, it does feel strange to jump to this 'accidental' conclusion. Which brings us to the next question...
Why was massive cardiac arrest given as the reason earlier?
Early reports had suggested that Sridevi has died due to 'massive cardiac arrest'. However, there is no mention of that in the report. The Khaleej Times report did say this "Sridevi drowned in her bathtub following a cardiac arrest, the report has confirmed. Traces of alcohol were found in her blood, the report further adds." So why was this information no mentioned in the report copy that was given out to the media? Also who had earlier spread the news about the cardiac arrest?
Is foul play ruled out?
Gulf News mentions that it was alcohol that led to Sridevi drown in the bathtub. But that makes no sense, as even in a highly inebriated state, you will try to save yourself when you are out of breath. It's an involuntary process. But if you suffered cardiac arrest, then there is a possibility that you may be rendered immobile. However, there is no mention of any bodily injury in the report (unless there is an annexure that was not revealed to us). So jumping to conclusions is not the right thing to do.
Will this delay the process of expatriation?
An official told Gulf News, “The investigation is still going on to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident as the forensic report only says that she drowned.”
As of now, the Forensics department has passed on the case to the Dubai police, as is the procedure in such cases. We have to wait and watch to see if the police will be able to give a clean chit here.
