Finally, after hours of wait, Sridevi's mortal remains have been flown back home. The body has been brought to Green Acres, her residence in Lokhandwala. Her brother-in-law Anil Kapoor, politician friend of Boney Kapoor Amar Singh, Sonam Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor's sister Anshula, Boney;s nephew Mohit Marwah had gone to the airport to receive the body. Sridevi's husband Boney Kapoor and son Arjun had flown in with her mortal remains. Sridevi had passed away in her hotel room in the Jumeirah Emirates Towers late on Saturday. She was just 54.

The cremation will take place at around 3.30 p.m. The last journey will commence at 2 pm from Celebration Sports Club to Vile Parle Seva Samaj Crematorium and Hindu Cemetery.  In a detailed announcement, the family said her body will be kept at Celebration Sports Club in Lokhandwala for people to pay their last respects before it is taken for cremation.

"On behalf of Khushi, Janhvi, Boney Kapoor, the entire Kapoor and Ayyappan families, a sincere thanks to the media for your continued sensitivity and support during this emotional moment," the statement read.

Sridevi's body was allowed to be taken by the family after the Dubai police gave them a clean chit, following the inconsistencies in the postmortem report. An official statement reads, “Update: Dubai Police has handed over the Consulate and the family members letters for the release of the mortal remains of the Indian cinema icon Sridevi Boney Kapoor so that they can proceed for embalming.”

Boney Kapoor and other had been brought for questioning as was the normal procedures in such cases. The reason for Sridevi's demise was given to be 'accidental drowning'.
