Sridevi No More: Vidya Balan, Amitabh Bachchan, Vir Das and More Furious Over Sensational News Coverage
Celebs like Amitabh Bachchan, Farhan Akhtar, Vir Das, Kunal Kohli and more slammed media for its sensationalizing the facts.
Bollywood diva Sridevi’s untimely death has shook the nation to the core. Fans woke up to the news of her demise on February 25 and the social media was flooded with devastating messages, condolences and shock over the fact that the legendary actress has left us all. However, just in two days, the things have changed from sadness to curiosity, thanks to the news channels! Speculations became rife when the corpse of the star started taking time to reach India from Dubai. It was also found out that the reason behind her death is not ‘cardiac arrest’ but ‘accidental drowning in the bath tub’. However, the way the news channels have been portraying and talking about the ‘mysterious death’ of Sridevi, the tweeple is not really happy with the extreme sensationalizing, especially with the help of half- baked information. Celebs like Amitabh Bachchan, Farhan Akhtar, Vir Das, Kunal Kohli and more slammed media for its sensationalizing the facts.
Big B subtly tweeted, “Get back to love .. it is the only sustainable !!” On the other hand, Sonu Sood tweeted, “I wonder after doing such reporting about a legend who lost her life..can these people sleep in peace? Ashamed to live in times where we have to see such a standard of reporting on reputed channels. #ShameOnYou ..let someone rest in peace.” Kunal Kohli did not care to even express the anger, and just wrote a line that read, “#rip indian news channels.”
Well, not only celebs but the aam junta is also annoyed with the way how Indian news channels are making their own uncomfortably funny graphics of bath tub, alcohol, and photo-shopped Boney Kapoor as well! (It’s high time, now!)
As most of the citizens in India, still largely depend upon the news channels for the first-hand information and even detailed ones, isn’t it the responsibility of these channels to provide them all with less but accurate and confirmed facts? With the alarming rate of sensationalizing, we won’t blame people if they stop believing the barking headlines hereafter!
