Soorma Box Office Collection Day 3: Diljit Dosanjh and Taapsee Pannu’s Sports Biopic Collects Rs. 13.85 Crore Total Over the Weekend
Diljit Dosanjh and Taapsee Pannu's Soorma sees an upward trend at the box office.
Dilijt Dosanjh and Taapsee Pannu's sports biopic, Soorma, might not have had a thundering opening at the box office but the film has definitely picked up pace. It had collected Rs. 3.20 crore on the first day and Rs. 5.05 crore on the second day. Soorma collected Rs. 5.60 crore on Sunday making it a total of Rs. 13.85 crore over the weekend. Ant-Man and The Wasp, which was also released on the same day beat Diljit's film at the box office on the opening day. With Bollywood making so many biopics, Soorma does manage to stand out and impress the audience with the mind-blowing performances.
Trade expert, Taran Adarsh, tweeted saying, "#Soorma has decent weekend... Considering the low start on Fri morning, the biz did escalate over the weekend, but the jump on Sun wasn't substantial enough... Maintaining the pace on weekdays is important... Fri 3.20 cr, Sat 5.05 cr, Sun 5.60 cr. Total: ₹ 13.85 cr. India biz. [sic]" Now that's quite an impressive number. Not just biopics, but this year also has a couple of sports dramas in store for the audience. Akshay Kumar's Gold is another hockey-based drama that will hit the theatres this year. We wonder how much the film will make in its second weekend!

Our in-house critic, Sreeju Sudhakaran, was also all praise about the film and wrote in his review, "The biggest takeaway from Soorma, apart from its inspiring tale, is the acting display. In a career-defining performance when it comes to Bollywood, Diljit Dosanjh delivers a flawless act that should win him more fans this side of Punjab. He exudes so much natural charm in every scene, be it his carefree flirting, or showing his unassuming nature towards his own talent or when he gets on the ground to deliver that drag flick. The highlight of his performance is his breakdown scene at the hospital when he helplessly gets himself wet. You also can't help but admire the efforts Diljit took to get that toned look in the final portions of the movie. This is one of the better-performed roles of the year, and hopefully, gets Diljit more prominence in Bollywood." What are your thoughts on this?
