Soorma Anthem: Shankar Mahadevan Delivers a Rousing Tribute to Sandeep Singh's Spirit for Diljit Dosanjh-Taapsee Pannu's Hockey Film

Soorma is scheduled to release on July 13

Soorma Anthem

We love biopics, don't we? Especially when it revolves around sports personalities. We have had hits in this genre from Irrfan Khan's Pan Singh Tomar, Priyanka Chopra's Mary Kom, Farhan Akhtar's Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Sushant Singh Rajput's MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. Now Diljit Dosanjh and Taapsee Pannu are looking to capitalise on that success formula with their upcoming movie, Soorma. The movie narrates the struggles of hockey great Sandeep Singh, who fought against all odds, including being paralysed for two years, to come up trumps and make his team qualify for the 2012 Olympics. Soorma is directed by Shaad Ali.

Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy who has composed the score for Soorma, has come out with the title track, or rather the anthem of the movie. With Shankar Mahadevan's rousing voice, the Soorma Anthem makes for the great tribute to the international hockey players, as he trains and fights against all odds to emerge victorious on the fields. We also catch glimpses of Angad Bedi and Vijay Raaz in the song. Check out the video of the Soorma Anthem here -

Interestingly, the Soorma anthem came out on the same day when Akshay Kumar revealed the full trailer of Gold, a movie also based on the sport of hockey. So it looks like, even though they are not releasing on the same day, the makers of Soorma are ready to lock horns with Gold as to which is the better movie. Soorma is scheduled to release on July 13, a month before Gold.
