Sonu Nigam's voice instantly takes you back to the charming era of the '90s. The man continues to reign the musical world in Bollywood as he still remains as the go-to singer for every filmmaker. But well, in his recent interview he has opened up about the new wave of music and singers and how. While criticising - constructively, of course - Guru Randhawa's song Ban Ja Rani he had a few things to get off his chest. The song in question was already a hit single before it was featured in the Vidya Balan film Tumhari Sulu, and went on to become a chartbuster.

While speaking with Hindustan Times, Sonu was asked to comment on the subject that many singers don't find today's songs melodious.  Sonu said, "They may have a take on an issue, and I respect that. But I wouldn’t like to look at my life like that. I don’t like looking at the world like that. We used to have both bad and good songs earlier, and similarly, we have good and bad songs today as well."

Though, further, he had one point of criticism and took a dig at Guru Randhawa's song. He said,  "One thing I find very funny — although I am not against it — is lyrics that go, “Tujhe main mahal dila doon…”. It’s like you are bribing the girl to please her. I find this idea very funny, but I don’t despise it. It’s cute. Everybody is trying to be quirky or different."

What do you think about Sonu's remark? We are wondering what Guru would have to say to this as he has not only sung the song but has also composed the lyrics.
