It is safe to say that comedies, not matter how good or bad, are a safe bet at the box office, unless they are promoted badly (Behen Hogi Teri) or are really bad (Welcome To New York). Pyaar Ka Punchnama director Luv Ranjan' new comedy, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety is bringing in the crowds who are in love with its (misogynistic) humour and vibrant energy. The movie stars Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharucha and Sunny Singh, with Alok Nath shedding off his un-sanskari role to steal the movie.

We had earlier reported that the anti-romcom had the third highest opening weekend of the year, behind Deepika Padukone's Padmaavat and Akshay Kumar's PadMan. Now as per the latest trade figures, tweeted by Taran Adarsh, Sonu Ke Tity Ke Sweety had a great Monday, collecting more than Rs 5 crore. As of now the movie has collected Rs

Even overseas, the movie is performing decently.

However, since the movie is made on a budget of Rs 40 crore (production costs plus advertising costs), Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety needs to make more than Rs 50 crore at the box office to be profitable. That said, the movie has gained the momentum to do so, and if things go fine, it can even overtake a struggling PadMan.

Here's what our review said about the movie - "Sonu Ke Titu Ke Sweety lacks the fun quotient of the director's previous ventures. However some of the jokes work, and the actors give their best, so in the end, the movie might work well as a just-about decent one-time watch."
