There is a fan following for movies with a hint of female bashing after all. After the successes of both the Pyar Ka Punchnama movies, director Luv Ranjan's latest movie, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety,  also seems to have struck a chord with the audiences. The movie stars Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharucha and Sunny Singh in the lead. Though it doesn't belong to the PKP series, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety carries the same brand of humour as it relishes on the themes of Venus vs Mars, bromance vs romance.

The romantic comedy had a really good opening weekend, with the movie collecting Rs 26.57 crore in three days. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed that Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety has the third best opening weekend of the year, after Deepika Padukone's Padmaavat and Akshay Kumar's PadMan.

While Padmaavat had a strong run in the days ahead with the movie nearing Rs 300 crore at the domestic box office, PadMan's earnings dipped after its first weekend with the movie struggling to even cross Rs 80 crore. We have to see if Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety goes to Padmaavat way or the PadMan way, considering the fact that it got considerably less favourable reviews from the critics, compared to Pyaar ka Punchnama series.
