Love it or hate it, Luv Ranjan's female bashing comedy often strikes a chord with the audiences somehow. Both his Pyar Ka Punchnama movies were decent hits, and though Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety is not a patch on both those movies, it looks to go the same way. The movie was one of the two big releases in  Bollywood this week, the other being another comedy, Welcome to New York.

Going by the occupancy rate in the early Friday morning shows, not only has Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety has managed to outshine Welcome to New York, but also another biggie that came out two weeks ago. As per a report in Box Office India, Kartik Aaryan and Nushrat Bharucha's movie has managed to beat the overcome the box office opening of Akshay Kumar's PadMan. Since PadMan was supposed to be the second highest box office opener after Padmaavat, it looks like Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety is taking that spot. It is said that the movie is performing well in the Northern belt of India.

The proper figures will arrive tomorrow, so watch this space for more updates on the figures.

However, we have to see if Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety manages to sustain the initial love from the audiences over the days ahead. Unlike PKP, the movie has got mixed to negative reviews, and basically recycles the jokes from the franchise. But it does boasts of some fine performances from the cast, especially a scene-stealing Alok Nath.

Here's what our review has to say about the movie, - "Sonu Ke Titu Ke Sweety lacks the fun quotient of the director's previous ventures. However some of the jokes work, and the actors give their best, so in the end, the movie might work well as a just-about decent one-time watch."
