This week two films are arriving in theatres but thankfully both of them are from completely different genres. While Sushant Singh Rajput and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Sonchiriya is a dacoit drama, Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon's Luka Chuppi is a romantic comedy. Though box office clashes are interesting to watch, it's always better to have two films releasing together that hardly pose any threat to each other. Because ultimately its important for all movies to make money as Bollywood is a business after all. So the fact that Sonchiriya will cater to a different audience than Luka Chuppi is good news for everyone including the makers of both the films. Sonchiriya First Reviews OUT! Sushant Singh Rajput and Bhumi Pednekar’s Dacoit Drama Gets Big Praise From Critics!
While Abhishek Chaubey's directorial venture Sonchiriya features brilliant actors like Sushant, Bhumi, Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey and Ashutosh Rana, it's a rustic niche film and therefore won't have a wider appeal. Once the film releases, it could do really well through good word of mouth but the opening of the film won't be huge. Trade pundits believe that the film won't earn more than Rs 2 crore on its first day. On the other hand, Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon starrer Luka Chuppi is expected to open around Rs 5 crore which is pretty decent.
Anyway, though Sonchiriya isn't a typical commercial film, it will still attract a certain section of the audience who love watching well-made, high on content and high on performance niche films. Also, not to forget, the Indian audience has evolved a lot lately so there is a possibility that Sonchiriya may end up drawing more crowd than expected. But only time will tell. Directed by Chaubey, Sonchiriya is high on action flick which is set in the valley of Chambal. The trailer of the film was released last month and it wowed everyone on social media. Sushant, who was last seen in Kedarnath, plays the role of Lakhna who is a dreaded dacoit. Bhumi, who was last seen in Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, is also playing a badass role in the movie.
