Sonam Kapoor's Veere Di Wedding Success Pushes Harshvardhan's Bhavesh Joshi Superhero Out of Theatres - Read Deets

Anil Kapoor's family must be going through a very confusing time over the weekend. On one hand, their home production, Veere Di Wedding starring Sonam Kapoor, is turning out to be a huge hit at the box office, enjoying a very fantastic opening weekend. But on the other hand, Sonam Kapoor's younger brother Harshvardhan Kapoor's Bhavesh Joshi Superhero turned out to be a disaster at the box office. Considering his debut movie, Mirzya, also met the same fate at the box office, Harshvardhan's career is now hanging on a thread.

The Vikramaditya Motwane film had performed so badly that the theatre owners had to reallocate its shows to other movies, especially Veere Di Wedding, owing to lack of sales. Bhavesh Joshi Superhero has just made around Rs 1 crore at the box office over the weekend, while Veere Di Wedding made more than Rs 35 crore at the box office.

Mid-Day quoted an official from a leading multiplex saying, “ The morning shows of Bhavesh Joshi have been cancelled as we hardly had any audience opting for it. We have added more shows of Veere Di Wedding instead.”

Trade expert Amod Mehra pointed to the newspaper exactly why the movie failed. He said, "I don’t think it was a wise decision to release the film with Veere Di Wedding. The film has failed to connect with the audience. Many shows have been cancelled across the country. It has also been a victim of spillover films’ success at the ticket counters."

Now the big question is - what next for Harshvardhan Kapoor? Will there be a home production for Harsh that will place him in a frothy entertainer a la Veere Di Wedding?
