It has been said and proven a gazillion times before and the 8-year old's rape and murder proves it yet again that India is not a country meant for women. The brutality with which an 8-year-old girl was raped and killed is appalling to a level that’s beyond anyone’s imagination. No girl, no woman, be it a Nirbhaya or this little girl, a Hindu or a Muslim, deserves to be drugged, raped by several men and get killed eventually. But sadly, that’s exactly the case with us in our country. It is extremely shameful that we, as a nation, have failed women umpteen times and it seems that there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING being done about it.

Somebody needs to make it known to the government that the progress of a nation doesn’t solely rely on how many metro trains are being introduced in the country or how good a nation’s foreign relations are. We need to dig deep within. What about the illiteracy rate or the increasing crimes against women? What about rapists and why do they get away with it so easily? Why did the police of the Kathua district, in Jammu & Kashmir wait for kid to die and then register a complaint against those ruthless men after two days?

The vicious circle of bureaucracy, police authorities and government regulations have deprived the common public of timely justice. Both, the government and police authorities owe an explanation for this gross error of judgement, time and again!

The heinous act and the inaction of local police and ineffective government measures have evoked strong emotions from several actors in Bollywood industry. They have expressed their anguish and took to micro-blogging site, Twitter, to voice their opinion on the girl's brutal death. Here's what they have to say!

"Heartbroken and Aghast," reads Nimrat Kaur's tweet.

"There is no species ever created on this planet that is as cruel, as monstrous and as evil as the rapists of #Asifa . And there is no punishment commensurate to their crime. An innocent 8 year old girl? I can only ask 'Where is God?'," tweeted Simi Garewal.

Abhishek Bachchan and Nikkhil Advani shared a picture of the 8-year old victim, that been going viral on the internet.

Fukrey actress Richa Chaddha posted a series of tweets saying:

"

Ashamed appalled and disgusted by fake nationals and fake Hindus. I cannot believe this is happening in my country," tweeted Sonam Kapoor.

According to a Firstpost report, the charging documents filed by the police in the state of Jammu and Kashmir state that  killers had hit her twice on the head with a stone to ensure that she was dead.

In a horrific incident, the victim was given sedatives and, for three days, raped several times by different men. Her strangled body was eventually found on January 17. The police said that she would have been killed sooner had one man not insisted on waiting so that he could rape her for 'one last time'.
