Sonakshi Sinha - Diljit Dosanjh's Welcome To New York or Kartik Aaryan's Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety - Which is Your Pick This Week?
This week we have two major releases in Bollywood, both harping on the humour factor. There is Welcome to New York, an experimental movie, and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety.
After the success of Padmaavat, which gave 2018 its first Bollywood blockbuster, the industry is yet to see a hit. Both Padmaavat and Aiyaary, despite having big names like Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra, Manoj Bajpayee etc have underperformed at the box office. Akshay Kumar's Rs 100 crore streak suffered a dent with PadMan's struggling box office collections, while director Neeraj Pandey got his first flop with Aiyaary. But then we have Black Panther that is having quite a decent run at the box office even bettering some of the recent Bollywood movies.
This week we have two major releases in Bollywood, both harping on the humour factor. There is Welcome to New York, an experimental movie, and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. In this special feature, let's discuss these two movies and see how they fare against each other.
Welcome to New York
Welcome to New York is a first of a kind comedy that is set against the backdrop of IFFA (and therefore will act as a promotional material for the same). Sonakshi Sinha and Diljit Dosanjh play the lead roles in the movie that has an ensemble supporting cast. Director Karan Johar has a dual role here, while Lara Dutta, Riteish Deshmukh, Boman Irani and Rana Daggubati form the rest of the cast. The movie has a plethora of cameos, with Sushant Singh Rajput and Salman Khan being the confirmed ones. The trailer wasn't too promising, so we are hoping that the movie could surprise us. Tamil director Chakri Toleti is making his Bollywood debut here, directing this one.
Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety
From the makers of the Pyaar Ka Punchnama series, comes this romcom that is not too far from the franchise when it come to similar themes. Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharucha and Sunny Singh play the leads in the movie, that is directed by Luv Ranjan. While the leads are in their elements going by the trailer, we are so looking forward to see Alok Nath's un-sanskaari dad in the movie. While the PKP-style humour works to some extent, we can't help but remember De Taali, starring Riteish Deshmukh and Ayesha Takia, that is suspiciously similar to the plot of SKTKS.
So which among these two movies is your pick this week? Share your thoughts below...
