Directed by Rohit Shetty, Singham Again hit theatres on November 1, bringing major SPOILERS along with it across the internet, including Salman Khan’s much-anticipated cameo as Chulbul Pandey from Dabangg. However, he doesn’t actually contribute to the plot and seems to be reserved for potential future instalment, though “potential” is the operative word here. ‘Singham Again’ Movie Review: Ajay Devgn and His Starry Friends Can’t Salvage This Loud and Hollow Action Spectacle.

Singham Again brings back Ajay Devgn as Bajirao Singham, Akshay Kumar as Veer Sooryavanshi, Kareena Kapoor Khan as Avni Kamat, Ranveer Singh as Simmba Bhalerao, and Jackie Shroff as Omar Hafiz, reprising their roles from previous movies in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe. New faces include Deepika Padukone as Shakti Shetty, Tiger Shroff as Satya Bali, and Arjun Kapoor as the main antagonist, Zubair Hafiz, also known as Danger Lanka.

Much like in Simmba, Singham Again features a mid-credit scene that introduces a new character into the cop universe. In this SPOILER-filled breakdown, we explore what this scene means for the franchise and where we might see the key players from Singham Again in future instalments.

The Mid-Credit Scene of 'Singham Again'

Singham Again wraps up with Singham killing Zubair using a flagpole, Omar Hafiz being sent back to prison, and the heroes declaring themselves a “family” on a helicarrier, posing dramatically on its edge as if fully aware it’s a cool moment. Meanwhile, Avni’s Ram-Leela play is a success, hopefully inspiring her son to stay in India. Here, the main movie ends… though Singham ominously warns that greater threats lie ahead, which his team will be ready to face.

In the mid-credit scene, we see Singham reading a file in his Shiva Squad office. A familiar voice says, “Singham, swagat nahi karoge humara?” Enter Salman Khan as Chulbul Pandey, standing in the doorway in his signature cop uniform, placing his sunglasses on the back of his collar. As Singham smiles at him, Chulbul looks at the camera and declares, “Ab aayega mazaa!” It’s worth noting that Chulbul, oddly, is not wearing his trademark moustache; instead, he has a noticeable beard, suggesting this rushed cameo was shot last minute. Mission Singham Chulbul

We believe this will be the title of the next film in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe, officially introducing Salman Khan’s Chulbul Pandey into the franchise. With Dabangg 3 underperforming at the box office, it remains to be seen if Rohit Shetty can breathe new life into Chulbul Pandey’s cop antics. Of course, regardless of the film’s quality, fans will flock to see Singham and Chulbul—two iconic cinematic cops—sharing the screen.

However, they won’t be the only stars in the film. As with the franchise's usual formula, we can also expect Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, and possibly Deepika Padukone to return. Curiously, Shetty has yet to announce sequels to Simmba and Sooryavanshi. Simmba remains the franchise’s highest-grossing film to date, and though Sooryavanshi didn’t perform as expected, it still has the potential to spin off its own sequels. But hopes aren’t high for standalone movies on Shakti Shetty and Satya Bali anytime soon. Perhaps it’s time for Shetty to consider outsourcing directorial duties to maintain momentum, similar to YRF’s strategy with its Spy Universe.

Another potential complication is how Chulbul Pandey’s entry will fit into a universe already loose with continuity in terms of characters and casting. This Insta user explains the confused casting of the universe in the best way possible...

Additionally, with Arjun Kapoor’s character killed off in Singham Again, Salman Khan sidesteps the awkwardness of sharing the screen with someone who once dated his current girlfriend and later moved on to his ex-sister-in-law. With Omar Hafiz still alive, will the next villain capable of challenging Singham and Chulbul be connected to him? Only time will tell.

PS: Is Daya alive? The last we see of him, the poor cop was being airlifted for immediate medical treatment after being brutally injured by Zubair and his men. Mission Chulbul Singham needs to answer this question asap!
